Start to Drink Tea and Reduce Your Stress Levels

One of our clients contacted us to ask our consultant, Dr Wei Feng, about stress ...
Thank you for filling the questionnaire and it is my pleasure to discuss the issue you mentioned in your reply. Of course anxiety is a very delicate condition that must be looked from many angles. A recent survey showed that 70-90 percent of us feel stressed at work and outside at some point in out life.
Stress leads to problems with the central nervous system, cardiovascular system, digestive system, respiratory system, musculoskeletal system, and immune system, endocrine and reproductive system. In fact, it can affect the whole body.
There are several ways to manage stress. Traditional Chinese medicine is very effective to handle stress. It looks into your over all health condition not just for the purpose of prescribing drugs; for example the use of meditation, you may start with 5 minutes a day. Every day try to isolate yourself and slowly focus on your breathing. Take deep breaths and try to slow down the heart rate. If you start with 5 to 10 minutes a day and build up to half an hour a day you will feel the difference.
For calming down we also recommend you to take long walks and be as close to nature as you possibly can. If you live in the city, try to get away. Urban life is a stress oriented way of life, that certainly aggravates your condition. Try to regularly have a "nature time" at the sea side or in the countryside. But get away from the cities. This is a must. You must reconnect with nature, ultimately it will help you to reconnect with yourself.
You should cut down immediately on all dairy products, including milk and creams; also if you can try to cut down on red meat.
A diet with fresh mixed vegetables, mushrooms with lots of garlic, and cut down on starches and the use of bread and sandwiches. Also many fresh fruits are good for you as the natural sugar has many benefits for the body, needed when the stress levels are high.
We highly recommend you stop drinking the English tea, which is highly industrialized and try for a few weeks the use of pure Chinese Tea, pure with no added sugar or milk. Oolong and Puerh are both excellent to give you an over all general balance. If you try you will notice the difference. Teas are a first step to this new way of balancing your health.
Traditional Chinese Medicine uses various treatment modalities, including acupuncture, moxibustion (applying heat to the skin), cupping (applying suction to the skin), gua sha (scraping the skin), massage, dietary and lifestyle recommendations, exercise and stress-reduction techniques, and herbal medicine.
Herbs used in Traditional Chinese Medicine include the following: American Ginseng, Asian Ginseng, Astragalus, Bitter Melon, Bupleurum, Chinese Scullcap, Corydalis, Dong Quai, Eleuthero, Fo-ti, Garlic, Ginger, Ginkgo biloba, Green Tea, Licorice, Ligustrum, Maitake, Reishi, Schisandra, Shiitake.
The reality is that many of the drugs that you have been prescribed, as you well know can have serious side effects and long term implications. The Chinese approach may be slower, but offers no side effects, and it will allow you to look for a way to feel better without needing a "drug". The philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine is to allow your body to be free from drugs and replace and produce the chemicals that you need naturally.
