Hosting a Tea-Tasting Party
If you are tired of all those parties that serve fattening foods, make a change and invite your friends to a simple but very lovely tea-tasting party! You can ask your friends beforehand what flavours they would like to have featured at the tasting event.
On the day itself, choose a spot where you can hold the affair. It could be in your kitchen, or you could place a large table in your backyard. Try to arrange all the tea leaves and bags at the centre of the table and do this in a creative manner. Group similar kinds of teas together. Make an effort to make a beautiful presentation. Use the best table cloth that you have and bring out your finest plates and tea sets.
Before guests arrive, set the mood with some party music. If you will be holding the event outdoors at night, having a few festive lights turned on is a nice touch. Make sure to prepare several cups and plenty of table napkins. As you and your guests taste each cup, take time to let the taste sit in your mouth. Take note of the colour of the drink and its aroma. Does it smell fruity or flowery? You should also pay attention to the taste. Is it a little sweet or is it more on the bitter side? Let your senses truly capture every sip. Each guest should write down her impressions in a journal. After the tasting part, everyone should vote on the best flavour and this will be served while everyone enjoys sweet treats such as cakes and pastries.
