» Tea's role in Cancer prevention and Cancer treatment
Tea is a truly amazing substance, with more than 450
different types of organic compounds such as polyphenols, vitamins and
various mineral elements. Almost all trace elements necessary for the smooth
running
of the human body, are found in Tea.
A recent study at Beijing Medical Centre confirms that polyphenols
found in teas can block variety of carcinogenic cells and block their capacity
to multiply. It has been proven that polyphenols have the power to destroy
cancer cells and they are thought to raise the effectiveness of the body’s
immune system. The Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine, confirmed that
Tea could
prevent cancer in its various forms through its TP hinge nitrate compounds.
The experiment also proved that 1g tea brewed two times maximises the effect. Many
tea drinkers also say that the second brew of tea tastes better than the
first!
For this discovery, Chinese and foreign medical experts found that the most
effective anti-cancer substance seems to be the polyphenol called epigallocatechin
gallate (EGCG). Professor Zhaoyan of China's Hunan University found that tea
polyphenols, especially
catechin compounds can create a phenomenon to induce cancer cells to
self destruct.
This late research, surprised many in the scientific community that also found
green tea, oolong tea and puerh inhibited the growth of cancer cells. One
of the strongest is green tea, oolong tea followed with puerh tea in third
place. The same study in Japan, confirmed that Green tea can
inhibit
lung, stomach and bladder cancer. This has also been backed up by research
in the USA one American cancer research institution in Maryland, in 2005 experimented
with
green tea
and came to the same conclusion.
The clinical and scientific evidence is out there - by drinking
Tea, one can protect and improve one's health. There are many types of Tea
but clearly, better quality pure organic teas have a much higher
degree of nutrients that the body needs to maintain a healthy life.
